FAQ

What clients ask

  • For race nutrition planning—from marathons or triathlons to ultra-endurance trail runs—we can help with any event nutrition plan! We can help you develop nutrition strategies for tournament, event, or game days in tennis, winter sports, swimming, surf lifesaving, gymnastics etc. We can also help you fuel well day-to-day to support your training load, recovery nutrition and tailor towards specific nutrient needs, such as iron and protein. If you have medical concerns such as REDs, coeliac disease, iron deficiency, Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or gut troubles we can help you balance your medical and sports nutrition needs.

  • A diabetes educator helps you understand your diabetes and how to manage it well with diet, lifestyle and medication. We might start you on blood glucose testing or a continuous glucose monitor to help monitor your levels. We will provide education to help you optimise your diet and exercise for diabetes management and can support you with weight loss or gain if those are part of your goals. If you need to start insulin, we will educate you on how to do so safely and confidently. Nicole is a Certified Insulin Pump Trainer and can get you started on an insulin pump. If you have type 1 diabetes we can provide support with other aspects such as managing exercise, carb counting, travel and alcohol.

  • You can see Amy our Dietitian and Diabetes Educator at Generations Medical in Taringa, Brisbane.  Ample free parking is available both in front of the Gailey Fiveways building (via Indooroopilly Road) and undercover beneath the building (via Alexandra Avenue).

Nicole our Sports Dietitian and Diabetes Educator is located at Gold Coast Physio and Sports Health in Ashmore, Gold Coast. This is an orange-coloured building located between JAX tyres and Anaconda. Plenty of free parking is available right outside.

Erin, Amy and Nicole all provide Telehealth consultations via Zoom, or you are welcome to opt for a phone call appointment.

  • You will receive a confirmation text upon booking your appointment, as well as an email and text reminders containing a Zoom link to your clinician's virtual waiting room. Please arrange to be in a quiet, private space with a secure internet connection or mobile data for your appointment time. If you join via your phone, you may need to download the Zoom app. If you join via tablet or laptop you can join through your browser. Please join 5 minutes before your appointment time and wait until your clinician lets you in. Once the consultation is complete, your clinician will email you a payment link to pay immediately after the appointment. Your clinician will email you any resources shared during the consultation.

  • If you are paying privately for the appointment or wish to access a private health rebate you do not need a referral to see any of our clinicians. If you are eligible for a GP Chronic Disease Management plan, you will need a referral from your GP to access a Medicare rebate.

  • You can call us on 1300 262 534 or book online. Once you book, you will receive a text or email confirming your appointment time and date. This confirmation will contain a link to our new client form. Please complete this form as early as possible and before your appointment date. This ensures we have your consent, contact information, Medicare or private health details and understand the reason for your visit. You are welcome to attach or email us any relevant blood tests, referrals or medical information. You will receive a reminder text; however, please ensure you have the appointment in your calendar from the time of booking.

  • Bring your Medicare card, private health card and payment card to the appointment (including telehealth appointments).

Keep a food diary for a few days to track what you regularly eat and drink and bring this diary with you. Please take photos or write a list of any supplements or medications you are taking in case we need more information about them. You may also wish to bring copies of referrals, blood tests or medical history.

If you are having your skinfolds measured (and have booked this specific type of appointment), please wear appropriate clothing, eg: a crop top for females and either short length tights or lightweight shorts.

For a diabetes educator appointment, please ensure you are logged into any pump or sensor apps to enable data sharing with your educator, or bring your BGL monitor and/or BGL diary if applicable.

For an insulin pump start appointment your diabetes educator will email you a list of things to bring that day.

  • Skinfolds are a method for assessing body composition, measuring subcutaneous fat at specific body sites using special calipers. Athletes working with their dietitian for sports performance can use it to track body composition changes toward specific outcomes. Skinfold measurements are typically taken at eight body sites (thigh, calf, three on the abdomen, back, and the front and back of the arm) and a sum of these is also used to measure changes. Nicole is an ISAK approved professional and provides skinfold body composition assessments for a small additional cost and time alongside a sports dietitian consultation.
